We are thankful for temporary shelter when we are out in the middle of nowhere. Tents keep us warm and dry. Having a proper tent is the best alternative to staying at home and missing camping fun. After a full day of hiking or biking, we can look forward to a good night’s sleep inside our tent. The last thing on our mind at this time is that this handy equipment needs attention. The more we take care of them, the longer they will be able to serve us.

Tent care involves cleaning, sealing and providing protection while in storage. Cleaning is best done as soon as you get back from the trip. Set it up, wipe it down with a mild soap and lukewarm water solution, rinse thoroughly and leave to dry completely. The poles should be wiped with a damp cloth and the zippers checked for the presence of dirt. Tears should be steam sealed and left to dry. When completely dry, the tent should be loosely rolled and stored in a dry cool place.

When you are thinking of ways by which you and your friends can bond, instead of the usual trips to the local spa or a night in town why not consider having a camping trip outdoors? This is the perfect idea to get you and your friends into some adventure, and be able to discover a few things more about each one that you normally would not find out from the usual activities that you do. Without the distractions of the city and a wonderful setting to work with, you can never go wrong with a camping trip! Be bold and daring enough to take your girl friends with you to the outdoors!

One of the things you must not forget to take with you is a tent of course. You would need to have some comfortable sleeping space you and your friends would look forward to after a whole day of being active. And when it comes to tents, nothing is as ever lightweight as a Copper Spur tent. This thing will not give you any trouble of having to bring such heavy sleeping equipment, perfect for you women who may have concerns on what you need to bring. Now you can spend a day out and have some great fun in a whole new way!

When camping with the family you would choose your tent the same way you would choose a tent when you go with just a friend. The difference is that you have to choose one with a large capacity. Aside from capacity, there are other features that you will want to find in family tents. This will include more storage and more durable flooring. Some family tents are specially friendly to children. They have glow in the dark zippers making it easy for children to find the entry and exit.

These are welcome features but there are other important considerations in choosing family tents. Aside from the size, you will want to choose a tent that is easy to set up. When you are with younger children you should be ready to pitch the tent without much help. It will be a good idea to practice in the store before you finalize your purchase. You cannot just depend on what sales people tell you.

Tents are often very simple structures that are used as shelter, made of some sort of frame with a type of material covering it. In most cases, tents are designed to be easily set up and taken down, making them ideal for travel. Among the different types of tents available, dome tents are one of the most popular types being used today. This type of tent is available in a variety of configurations, but the most common is the one in which two jointed poles are crossed over one another to form a large, bent “X”.

Dome tents are designed to provide excellent stability in windy conditions and will naturally slough snow off of themselves. They typically have a good amount of headroom and interior space and is relatively easy to set up. Most dome tents are built to have their poles lock down to the tent base itself, allowing the fully erected tent to be moved around and transferred without being disassembled.

Since I had insisted on bringing an inflatable mattress for my sleeping accommodations, we needed a huge tent. We have several tents so each one of us bought our own. We brought Coleman tents, family tents, single tents. My husband and I shared the family tent, while our 3 sons, 2 nephews and 2 nieces and their parents each had their own or shared with another family member of two.

Besides the tents, the girls had what we called our “modern conveniences”. We had our portable showers and small pillows. It was also my sister-in-law’s and the two girls’ first time to camp so we were given “passes” to bring some conveniences. But all in all we enjoyed this first camping trip tremendously. I now understand the joy in what I considered before more of a boy thing. It was an excellent bonding time for me, my family and in-laws.

When it comes to camping accommodations, weight is always a major issue. As far as weight goes the Bivy tent is one of the lightest. It is a lightweight waterproof shelter that is an alternative to a traditional tent. It is used by climbers, mountaineers, hikers and ultra light backpackers because it is extremely lightweight and waterproof. Bivy is another name for bivouac sack.

The Bivy tent is designed to slip over a sleeping bag to provide additional insulation. It effectively shields against wind chill and rain. Modern bivy tents are made of waterproof and breathable fabrics that allow humidity to pass through avoiding a moist situation. It can be zipped all the way to the user’s face leaving only a small hole in which the user can breathe. This is an attempt to effectively shut out the elements.

I am a single father of a ten-year-old daughter. I also work and have to leave her with a sitter more often than I would like. So, I always make sure that my weekends are free to spend with her and make it special. I had a difficult time trying to figure out what my daughter would like to do with her dear old father. I tried taking her to the movies, parks, museums, even swimming but she never quite enjoyed those activities as much as I had hoped. I was starting to think that I was doing something terribly wrong.

About less than two months ago, she tells me that she’d like to go shopping. I should have figured out that every girl likes to go shopping but I was hoping that my daughter would be interested in more than just looking good. I was dumbfounded when, instead of going through racks of clothing in the mall, she went straight to canvassing for some camping tents. My daughter wanted to go stargazing! Proudly, I bought not only a tent but a telescope as well. We’ve been doing that every weekend ever since. I think I’m doing something right after all.

Every person who loves to camp or go hiking will always tell you to bring the proper equipment. Always prepare this equipment ahead of time and check them thoroughly for safety purposes. They will tell you to bring all necessary equipment, including emergency first aid kits, but make sure it just heavy enough for you to carry.

Well, that doesn’t help much when your built is just as small as me. I stand at exactly 4 feet and cannot carry too much. I’ve been wanting to go camping or hiking but I do not want to burden anyone with my baggage. Yet, I cannot carry a tent, sleeping bag, clothes, food, water, emergency kit, emergency tools, and everything else. I have finally solved my dilemma! I researched online and though it is not ideal, there are camping and hiking sites that actually rent out cheap tents and I do not have to worry anymore just because I am small! In fact, I’ve scheduled myself to my much-longed-for adventure next weekend!
