Camping is one of the things my husband and I love to do on weekends. We would usually invite our friends to come with us and take a relaxing break away from the city. I grew up having my father take me to the woods together with my brothers. It was a family thing that we started after my mom passed away when I was five. It was my father’s way of letting us know that he is still around and we have him for support.

One of the things my father gave to me a few months back was a Victorinox Swiss Army knife. It had such a sentimental value not only because it was my father who gave them to me, but because it sort of bonded us together. Camping was the thing that kept us together and closer over the years, and it was his way of telling me he cherished those times very much. Now that he is gone, I continue on enjoying these trips with my husband, hoping in a few years we get to share the same to our children.

When you go to a camping trip, there are a few things that you need to bring to ensure your survival, such as weapons and first aid kits. But apart from all these, you would also need to bring a place where you can sleep in and food that would help you re-energized. Having to walk and be active all day, you would usually get tired easily and get worn out. This is why you need to frequently eat and drink in order to do more activities while outdoors.

When it comes to eating, it is a must to have some dependable camping cutlery with you. This allows you to fully appreciate your meal and eat with convenience even when outdoors. This should be easy to clean since you may not have enough water to wash the utensils. It is also a must that the camping cutlery you have is lightweight, this way you need not burden yourself of carrying a heavy load. A rough and rugged life in the outdoors may be fun, but remember to bring a few essentials to help you survive and enjoy the trip.

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, the person that you are would like to get some fresh air and to hide out in the wilderness so no one can bother you. Given the increasing developments and the cold structures we have, the urbanization has been a phenomenon that has crept to the rural areas and farm lands. And yet we still long for those times when we can get a breath of fresh hair and enjoy the beauty that nature has for us.

Escaping the city is one of the things that most people enjoy. Camping out in the woods, pitching their tents, walking around to explore the wilderness, preparing food with their camping knives and head on out to watch the stars. The simplicity in camping is what draws people to do it on a regular basis. Here you can find peace, take a moment to reflect and watch the day go by without worrying if the stock market points have fallen yet again or if the house needs cleaning. It allows us to revitalize our bodies and restore our spirits. Escaping the city every once in a while is a trip worthwhile.

For people who love to go camping, there are lots of equipment available that can make this experience more enjoyable. There are different types of camping knives that are available in stores and online through the Internet. A folding knife is a type of camping knife that has different tools attached to it.

When choosing a camping knife, you need to start by considering your needs. A larger knife can definitely include the tools that you will need when you are out camping in the woods. This can include the large blade, a can opener and even a corkscrew. It can also include a magnifying glass, a saw, as well as a pair of scissors. This will definitely save you a lot of space in your backpack because you do not have to carry these things separately.

And since you are a nature lover, you took them all to camp. You want them to experience what it’s like to be in the presence of an amazing natural environment.

They immensely enjoyed swimming in the crystal-clear lake. Some went fishing. The others got their cameras and took photos of the view. By nighttime, you planned a campfire barbecue. And as they prepared to sit by the warm fire, you took out your pair of Fallkniven pocket knives and made sticks with pieces of wood as roasters for the barbecue.

Pocket knives are small and light enough to be carried around in your pocket. You can use it to cut, saw or hammer. Sometimes I even use mine as a screwdriver. Just make sure you always clean it and keep it sharp. A dull knife causes more accidents than a sharp one. To clean your knife, wash it with soap and then oil it.

When planning a camping trip you will have to decide on a few important things. One of that is what kind of camping knife to take with you. There as so many quality brands in the market today; choosing the one that will work best for you can be difficult. Some brands of pocket knives that you might want to check out are Victorinox Swiss Army One-Hand Trekker, Old Timer pocket knives, and the Leatherman New Wave. These are just a few; you will surely come across other good knives.

Your choice of knife should focus on the things that it can do. It should fit the kind of adventure that you are planning to do. In a simple camping trip a knife will be used mostly in cooking or maybe a little bit of whittling when you are setting up a tent. In a fishing trip, you will need it to clean up your catch. But when you are faced with a dangerous situation, your knife can be your savior. Needless to say, the kind of knife that you want is something that can do the job that you expect it to do. Whatever it is, you will need a knife that is sharp, with a locking mechanism both when closed or when in use.

~Always keep the blades clean and dry without any moisture or fingerprints that can cause stains.~Use a soft cotton cloth to wipe the blades down with a light film of oil or silicon to prevent them from getting rusty.~Keep the hinged ends of the knife clean and free of dirt and debris.~Oil the hinged points to assure smooth and easy opening.~Maintain blade sharpness because dull ones are dangerous.
